This year, the changes are more modest, but the 2023 Sorento gets more standard active-safety features (blind spot monitoring, safe exit warning and rear cross-traffic alerts) and several of the Sorento’s five trim lines get additional standard equipment, including all-wheel drive (AWD) on the SX-Prestige. New in 2021, last year Kia expanded availability of its off-road X-Line package to more Sorento models and added a PHEV with 32 miles of electric range. That SUV proved so popular that there have often been waiting lists to get one, but the Sorento offers a variety of things that the Telluride doesn’t and has lots of virtues of its own, including hybrid and PHEV powertrains and a lower price tag. You might not have noticed, because the sleek Sorento has been largely overshadowed by the blockbuster success of Kia’s own larger Telluride. A small-ish midsize SUV with a standard third row, the Kia Sorento was redesigned just two years ago into one of the most compelling models in its class.
